Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Learning Support Assistant to join our highly successful Additional Learning Support team. The team provides a range of support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities to enable them to access the educational opportunities offered by the College.

The role is based at our New Bedford Road and Enterprise Way campuses based in Luton. Your focus will be supporting learners in the classroom and assisting teaching staff in a range of practical and theory-based lessons to meet the needs of students. You will also spend some time supporting learners in out of class support sessions, working on individualised targets and helping to development independent study skills.

This role would suit someone looking to start a career in the education sector. A pro-active and resourceful, learner-focused approach is required as you will be involved in creating individual support strategies plans, working collaboratively with curriculum-based colleagues.

You must enjoy working with people and have excellent communication skills as you will need to engage and motivate students who need encouragement with their studies. Experience working with young people and/or adults with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities is desirable.

Ideally you will be educated to at least Level 3 with qualifications in English and maths. Some knowledge of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and the procedure associated with gathering information for annual review meetings is desirable, but full training will be provided.
