Full Job Description
- Arrange referrals, appointments and outcomes into relevant clinics following patient attendances as necessary using the electronic patient record system
- Discharge patient records, ensuring all coding is complete and accurate ensuring clinical pathways are followed as per Trust policy.
- Carry out daily maintenance of ED medical notes ensuring all records can be accounted for which may include retrieval of copies from ward admissions.
- Liaise with nursing staff, consultants, secretarial and other disciplines regarding issues relating to clinics.
- Arrange transport as required for patients returning home or attending follow up clinic.
- Scanning and indexing of patient records, including alert notifications, in line with departmental procedures. Undertake regular maintenance of scanner.
- Cover reception duties as required which includes registering patients coming into ED ensuring all relevant patient information is taken and recorded accurately
- Escalate any concerns over patients to the relevant clinical staff
- Deal with telephone enquiries from GP's, patients, relatives, members of the public and other organisations.
- Deal with face-to-face enquiries from patients and clinical staff within the department
This is a challenging role and successful candidates will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and have a flexible approach. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
