Full Job Description

  • Filing and distributing laboratory reports to wards, G.P's and external sources
  • Unpacking and receipting deliveries - this requires a certain degree of moving and handling
  • Packing and sending consumables to GPs, Wards, Departments and other service users - this requires a certain degree of moving and handling
  • Admin support for the Department including IT support
  • Laboratory support - such as making up covid packs, FIT test pack, Filing and distributing laboratory reports to wards, G.P's and external sources
  • Recording invoices and matching against delivery notes for authorization in procurement
  • Unpacking and receipting deliveries - this requires a certain degree of moving and handling
  • Stock control management
  • Packing and sending consumables to GPs, Wards, Departments and other service users - this requires a certain degree of moving and handling
  • Histology slide filing
  • Admin support for the Department including IT support
  • Laboratory support - such as making up covid packs, FIT test packs
  • Attending meetings for the purpose of taking and transcribing minutes
  • Typing letters and reports when requested
  • Organise and maintain CLM filing systems to include Cytology reports, Blood Transfusion Assessments
  • Operate office machinery eg, photocopier, laminator, printer
  • Distribute mail within the Department
  • Use of Trust software systems
  • Ensure departmental security is maintained.
  • Attend all mandatory training.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to join our small admin team in pathology, who has the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, service users, internal departments and outside agencies It is essential to ensure that all enquiries and urgent matters are dealt with politely and efficiently., The admin team in pathology provides a wide range of support to the various departments within Clinical Laboratory medicine. The team is small and friendly with the team members having worked at ELHT for numerous years. Previous telephone experience is essential as is the ability to work both in a team and unsupervised., GCSEs in English and Maths Grade 4-9 or equivalent
  • Good computer skills and a good understanding of Microsoft packages
  • Audio typing

  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Experience using Trust software systems
  • Minute taking

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
