Full Job Description

Administrative Assistants within the NHS are essential to keeping the NHS running successfully. They ensure our patients have the information they need for their care and our Healthcare Professionals can access crucial patient information.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a reception service and administrative support to our Outpatient Clinics held within the Eye Hospital and Emergency Eye Department.
This will include but is not exhaustive of; greeting patients and visitors attending the Outpatients and Emergency Eye departments, data entry duties, clerical duties including answering the phone and booking appointments. Recording patients data within the system securely and accurately. Ensuring our patients have a positive experience with us while visiting the hospital., Professionals working in front of house functions at MREH will often be the first people our patients meet so clear communication skills, attentiveness and a calming presence are all essential attributes in these roles.
You will be meeting and greeting our patients from arrival at the Eye Hospital, helping them navigate around the department, booking them in for appointments, assisting patients signing up to MY MFT and ensuring they have an exceptional experience with us in the Outpatients Department. Participation in preparations for patients attendance is critical, compiling the necessary paperwork and data required for the patient and clinic. Answering the telephone, relaying queries and liaising with other departments where appropriate. Inputting and collating patients data on the Trusts Electronic Patient Record System (EPR). Confidence in communicating with colleagues and patients therefore is a skill that is vital to this role.
You will be responsible for completing and complying with Trust Mandatory Training and carrying out duties in line with Trust Standard Operating Procedures.
Be confident in escalating issues, complaints and capacity problems to Line Managers and comply with all Health and Safety, Infection Control and Safeguarding policies.
The post holder is required to maintain confidentiality at all times in all aspects of their work.
