Full Job Description

Ensure the smooth running of the communications office, supporting the communications team to deliver effective corporate communications activities and campaigns aligned to the council priorities and corporate performance objectives

  • Monitor and manage the communications team shared email inbox, responding to enquiries or forwarding to others to respond as appropriate

  • Answer the communications team telephone calls, and review voice messages, taking and passing on messages as appropriate

  • Co-ordinate requests for support from the communications team, using planning and tracking software as required

  • Work with the Internal communications Officer on the production of the weekly Chief Executive bulletins for staff and elected members, checking accuracy and issuing via the gov.delivery email system

  • Take notes and action points from the communications team meetings

  • Arrange the communications team on-call rota

  • Support communications team members with the production of presentation slides and documents, including information gathering and proofreading on request

  • Arrange team meetings as requested, both on-line and in-person, booking rooms and ensuring any technology required is in place and working

  • Support the introduction of new technology and software for the communications team, acting as the first point of contact for queries and gathering the information required for its effective implementation

  • Support communications team members to troubleshoot and find solutions for technical or other issues affecting their ability to work effectively
