Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Suffolk County Council (SCC) Learning Disability and Autism East Team as a Social Worker, working from Stowmarket. Are you looking for a job that challenges your social work practice and provides the opportunity to bring positive change to people's lives? Our experienced teams have strong connections with the local community and the people and the families they support. We invest in building the strong multidisciplinary partnerships needed to get the right results. Working with the learning disability and autism service means a varied day. You may support a young person to move into their first home from hospital or set up a reablement plan to help someone connect with their local community. There are plenty of opportunities to support co-production work with our Independent advocacy organisation based in Suffolk (aceanglia.com) If you're passionate about social work and ready to bring positive change to those who need it most, we'd love to hear from you!

  • a relevant social work qualification.
  • a current Social Work England registration (or awaiting your registration if Newly Qualified).
  • a valid driving license and access to personal transport.
  • You'll bring:
  • experience of social work, modelling good practice and providing advice and guidance in complex situations
  • comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance
  • experience of chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers, and other multi-agency professionals
  • the ability to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable adults.

Our staff are our greatest resource and with you in our team, we can achieve the authority's priorities of enabling everyone to live long, healthy, fulfilling lives whilst safeguarding the most vulnerable people in Suffolk.
  • We work to a strength-based practice model and would encourage you to apply for our roles if you think you have the same values so we can continue with this approach to help empower Suffolk residents. In Suffolk, we're transforming how we deliver Adult Social Care through our "People at the Heart of Care" programme. This puts people at the centre of their own care choices and decisions, from initial advice to assessments and self-commissioning. Find out about our plans to transform Adult Social Care, by putting people at the heart of care (suffolk.gov.uk).
