Full Job Description

To support college systems and processes around attendance in order that students gain maximum life chances from educational opportunity. Working with the Assistant Principal for Student Services to contact students/parents/carers to track and monitor the reasons for any lack in college attendance.,

  • To support attendance, integration or reintegration to the college of students whose attendance falls below 80%.

  • To take and log initial calls to the attendance line in liaison in support of the learner journey team.

  • To call parents/carers/students to determine the reason for absence and whether any support is required.

  • To track on Databridge and Excel student attendance and reasons.

  • To help support with next steps in liaison with line manager and appropriate staff.

  • To support with improving levels of College attendance, and to ensure parents, carers are aware of their legal responsibilities to secure regular attendance at the College or other organised provision.

  • To develop strong relationships with students and their families using diplomacy and enthusiasm, to support and challenge as appropriate so as to reduce student non-attendance and exclusion from College. Undertake home visits as necessary to support this.

  • To escalate where appropriate where we have concerns about college attendance.

  • To contribute to whole College initiatives, multi-agency training and/or group work to improve College admission and attendance.

  • To establish clear communications with parents, external agencies and other College staff.

  • To communicate with others where there are concerns about attendance.

  • Ensuring the College is updated with national policies, procedures and legislation relating to attendance.

  • Work in line with college attendance policies.

  • To ensure relevant accurate statistics are maintained and follow up in a timely way to determine the reason for absence and reporting to the safeguarding team where there are concerns about welfare and/or safety.

  • In liaison with the manager to develop action plans for individual students with specific attendance concerns.

  • To work alongside Curriculum Area Managers and Assistant Principals to support the effective implementation of the College Improvement Plan with regard to attendance and punctuality and positively and actively promote positive attendance across the College.

  • To support families and students through home visits to reduce the absence levels of individual students.

  • Collate information and share statistics and progress reports for CMT and Governors in liaison with the line manager and Assistant Principals for Student Services and Teaching and learning


  • Administration
  • Manage manual and computerised record/information systems including updating Databrdige

  • Undertake typing and word-processing, photocopying, filing and complex IT based tasks. To have knowledge of Databridge, emails and excel spreadsheets.

The responsibilities and duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post. The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to enable the efficient and effective running of the College.

  • Undertake appropriate training and development as required, including any mandatory and/or refresher training required for the role.

  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required

  • Train and develop other employees, for proper succession planning and risk management.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Chief Executive Officer and Vice Principal.
