About the Role Are you passionate about moving and handling? If so, we can offer you plenty of opportunities to hone your skills in this arena, working closely with care providers, our residents, specialist back care advisors for non-paid carers, reps and OT colleagues. You will have access to a well-equipped equipment store and a training room to practise your skills. Surrey also offers excellent regular moving and handling training and CPD opportunities. Surrey County Council has a vision of optimised single-handed care keeping our service users/residents and their carers at the core of any moving and handling outcomes. You will have direct access to our stake holders, working closely with the borough council and Home Improvement Agency where conversations and problem solving is actively encouraged. Joint visits with surveyors are also easily achieved. Regular training is available with opportunities to become DFG champions with networking and further training opportunities. Other duties include completing housing needs assessments, working closely with our borough council colleagues and completing thorough assessments to reflect the housing needs of our clients/residents. Supervision of junior colleagues including trainees, students and OT assistant colleagues will also form part of your role. You will receive regular supervision with a commitment to identifying individual strengths, problem solving of complex case work and training and CPD opportunities.

• Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Experience of working within a social care, health or community focused multi-disciplinary setting
• Ability to complete person centred and proportionate OT assessments
• Familiarity with moving and handling equipment such as hoists and stand aids
• Knowledge of medical conditions and the likely impact on the individual, carer and family
• Knowledge of current legislation, including the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act and its application to practice in a social care setting
Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.

The starting salary for this role is £46,399 per annum based on a 36-hour working week. This is a full-time position, part-time applications will be considered.
