Full Job Description

The post would be based in The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead. The role would involve the setting up and running of groups based on the Recovery Through Activity principles; managing their own caseload under the supervision of a band 7; evaluating and auditing of groups, setting up and leading ATP meetings and projects, involvement in service development plus lots of other interesting elements.,

  • Monitor OT referrals, screen appropriately, and discuss with referrer and senior OT treatment path
  • Contact service users to screen for OT at point of referral under supervision of senior OT
  • Manage OT referral database and ensure service users are contacted in a timely manner and regularly informed if there is a wait for OT intervention
  • Facilitate selected OT assessments for 1:1 and group therapy sessions according to Job Description with support from senior OT; OSA, wellbeing scale, Therapy Goals and Outcomes
  • Liaise with and refer to senior OT those identified as needing specialist assessment or more complex treatment
  • Hold 1:1 caseload for those assessed and identified as needing occupationally focused treatment
  • Facilitate Recovery Through Activity groups
  • Actively participate in MDT discussion

    Mental Health Services for Adults, HPFT, are looking for an Advanced Assistant Therapy Practitioner (unregistered band 5) for a 12 month secondment. The band 5 would need to have experience of working within Occupational Therapy as a band 4., Knowledge of Occupational Therapy role within setting
  • Proficient use of Microsoft office and associated packages
  • Foundation degree and/or Health and Social Care NVQ level 5, Diploma of Higher Education, HND or equivalent
  • Training in the use of the Model of Human Occupation in practice areas
  • Training in topics relevant to clinical area e.g. Dementia and/or Mental Health
  • Desirable criteria
  • Degree in relevant subject
  • Training in Supervision skills, Brief solution focused Therapy, Sensory based interventions, Significant period of Experience of working within the clinical area e.g. people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems and/or mental health for Older people
  • Significant Experience of working in a OT related setting
  • Considerable Experience of leading a range of groups and 1:1 interventions
  • Proven ability to work autonomously
  • Knowledge of Recovery principles
  • Experience of service user and carer involvement in the development of services
  • Desirable criteria
  • Functional Assessment Training
  • Associate membership of British Association Of Occupational Therapy
  • Up to date training record and an interest in reflective practice
  • Involved in service developments
