Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Gastroenterology

Due to internal promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our pharmacy team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) as an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for Gastroenterology. You will provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to gastroenterology patients in a role which will involve close collaborative working with our gastroenterology clinical team. This role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to work under the guidance of a Consultant Pharmacist within the speciality, providing invaluable learning and development opportunities. You will be part of our progressive pharmacy team and contribute to the implementation of the Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services Strategy, striving for excellence to provide the highest standards of care for our patients. • Responsible for Medicines Optimisation within gastroenterology and provide a high-quality, ward based clinical pharmacy service to gastroenterology patients
• Provide medicines expertise and advice for hepatology and endoscopy specialities when appropriate
• Engage with clinical teams and develop prescribing protocols and treatment pathways to ensure medicines within the speciality are used in line with local and national guidelines and commissioning policies
• Optimise cost-effective use of medicines and identify opportunities for waste reduction, including by working collaboratively with colleagues on the Medical Infusion Unit
• Support with biosimilar switches within gastroenterology
• Carry out clinical verification of Homecare prescriptions and Medical Infusion Unit prescriptions for gastroenterology patients
• Attend gastroenterology governance and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Produce finance reports, along with associated clinical intelligence for gastroenterology medicine expenditure and contribute to annual horizon scanning for medicines within this speciality
• Support and contribute to the education and training of pharmacy staff and students, including undergraduates
