Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to cover Maternity leave for 12 months and be part of the General Surgery Advanced Clinical Practitioner team which cares for patients who are acutely unwell, often presenting with undiagnosed, undifferentiated conditions or ongoing worsening symptoms of chronic disease. Based in the multi-specialty Same Day Emergency Care unit which is dedicated to delivering same day care, investigations and initiation of treatment without admission to hospital.

The post holder will form part of the surgical team in providing clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring surgical input. Demonstrating highly developed specialist knowledge and skills, the post holder will be integral in the early assessment and management of general surgical and urology patients.

The Advanced Practitioner will work autonomously; demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of patients within General Surgery. They will order investigations, make appropriate/ timely referrals and maintain relevant clinical records. Non-medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role. The team is supportive to newly qualified or less experienced ANP/ACP and offer on the job training and a supervisory period to enhance skills and knowledge.
