Full Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity at North Manchester General Hospital for an Advanced Therapy Practitioner to work with the AHP department and Orthopaedic surgery, to develop a new Hand and Wrist service. This requires an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy teams based at North Manchester General Hospital but linking closely with the Wythenshawe hand and wrist service team.
The role will involve working with our Hand & Wrist Surgeon and the Therapy teams. We will work closely with the Hand team at Wythenshawe and Trafford to ensure there is consistency and a wider team approach. This will involve some cross site working to make close links.
To work autonomously within Trust policy and professional practice and maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
To be responsible for your own clinical caseload and communicate effectively with the Physiotherapy team, the Hand & Wrist surgeons and the wider team including GPs, and community colleagues.
To support students on placement in the service and rotational Physiotherapists as appropriate., You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of orthopaedic hand and wrist trauma and elective patients in practitioner led hand clinics, and be required to work as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Consultant led clinics.
There will also be a requirement to oversee, advise and liaise with the hand rehabilitation and inpatient therapy services. You will be expected to complete line management duties and contribute to the expansion and implementation of a Trust wide hand therapy service. You will assist in the leadership of the hand therapy team contributing to their continued professional development through supervision and teaching. You will also have responsibility for the clinical education of other healthcare professionals within the wider team.
You will be expected to demonstrate advanced and comprehensive knowledge of the assessment and treatment techniques applicable to patients with a wide variety of hand and wrist conditions
The successful candidate would be required, after appropriate training if required, to demonstrate competencies in various skills including advanced splinting, interpretation of radiographic imaging, complex clinical reasoning and possibly injection therapy.
