Full Job Description

A 1-yr position is available in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at QMUL to operate two cutting-edge mass spectrometers for proteomic, lipidomic and metabolomic methods. The role would suit ambitious mass spectrometrists who are keen to develop new techniques on the latest instruments. Funding beyond 1 yr is available in the case of excellent performance.

The post requires a dedicated, motivated and passionate mass spectrometrist, ideally with a PhD in a relevant subject. You will be required to carry out proteomic, lipidomic and metabolic mass spectrometry analyses for many projects and will have input into project design and data analysis. Prior experience in proteomics is desirable, although full training and support will be given to expand the postholder's skills beyond a single area of mass spectrometry expertise. Evidence of ability in this area (e.g. significant contributions to publications/preprints) will be considered an advantage. Although a postdoctoral candidate is preferred, this is not an essential requirement and exceptional candidates with graduate qualifications are encouraged to apply.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) is internationally renowned in many areas of human biology, including cancer, cardiovascular and immunological research. Spanning several institutes, it combines ground-breaking basic research with the expertise of clinicians and clinician scientists to achieve improvements in patient care.
