An exciting opportunity for a hard-working, self-motivated and ambitious pharmacy technician to join the SPARC team (Stroke Pathway Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre) working from Beech Hill in conjunction with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
This advanced clinical and leadership role will utilise the advanced clinical knowledge of a suitable pharmacy technician to provide a vital service to the staff and patients within SPARC.
You will be responsible for ensuring an efficient service is provided for stroke patients and ensuring processes and procedures are kept up to date to facilitate discharges. Working with the team at SPARC and community services you will enable patients to self medicate and provide counselling, set up compliance aids and arrange supply of medicines within the community. Using your skills as a medicines management technician you will be responsible for reducing waste, reducing drug errors, audits, reporting to the directorate on drug costs and supporting patients medication needs., Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will be responsible for the day to day pharmacy service provided to SPARC and also leading Medicines management Technicians and assistants within the rest of the stroke pathway within STH. This will include developing new ways of communicating, working to develop the stroke pathway as a whole and working to provide a balanced service throughout.
To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the SPARC unit. This will be in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal and/or Pharmacist in conjunction with the Medicines Management Service Manager within STH.
The successful applicant will provide the interface between SPARC staff in the unit, HASU and ASU wards within STH, community pharmacies, community stroke service, patients and STH pharmacy. They will be required to confidently work across professional boundaries. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Some previous experience with stroke patients is desirable but not essential, and a high level of expertise in an alternative clinical area would meet the essential criteria.
You will contribute to the pharmacy departmental service and the out of hours service as per standard commitment.

Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.

This is a progression post band 5-6. There are two aspects to demonstrate the skills required for the band 6 level. High level service leadership and advanced clinical skills. The latter includes completion of BTEC level 4 diploma and following competencies, the ability for autonomous working with limited daily pharmacist supervision.
