Full Job Description

Are you a dynamic and motivated OT looking for a new challenge?, You will lead the assessment of new upper limb amputees / children with upper limb deficiencies referred to the service working collaboratively with our clinical lead OT and prosthetic colleagues to ensure the most appropriate prosthetic options are considered. You will be involved in the carrying out interventions, specific to the functional goals that have been identified and arrange regular follow up and review of our children.

You will also be involved with the rehabilitation of our lower limb amputee patients supporting the Band 6 and out therapy colleagues.

You will be able to work effectively with the prosthetic MDT and wider Community Services. The role is aimed at providing a seamless service for the complete lower limb amputee journey.

You will be expected to develop patient pathways, undertake evidence based audits and complete research projects in conjunction with the Clinical lead Band 7 Occupational Therapist. You will be expected to supervise junior staff and participate in education of students on placement.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, and a sound knowledge of the role of OT within the Amputee Service. Experience of working with lower limb amputees is essential along with sound knowledge of the OT role within the upper limb amputee service.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for 15 hours/week Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist, fixed term for eighteen months within the Regional Prosthetic Service/Ward Based Amputee Rehab.The successful applicant will be integral in leading the expansion of the existing Amputee Service to Upper limb amputees and limb deficient children providing holistic patient centred occupational therapy interventions to its service users. There will also be an expectation to support the Band 6 in expanding the service to lower limb amputees.
