Full Job Description

As a result of a change in contracted hours within our well-established Learning Disabilities Team, we are looking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner to work closely with our management team. We support people from age 25 years onwards and are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional to join our team, to help shape and deliver our service.

The ideal applicants will demonstrate exemplary practice with the ability to act on their own initiative and model strengths-based, person-centred practice as the role involves supporting the Team Manager with the day-to-day running of the team, staff supervisions, allocation and quality assuring of work and oversight of people likely to require support from adult social care.

Your day to day tasks:

  • Work in partnership with colleagues in children's services and other partner agencies to plan for young people coming into adult social care.

  • Work in partnership with partner organisations, adults and their carers and/or representatives.

  • Ensure that the team meets statutory responsibilities and maintains quality practice standards in delivering services to children and young people/adults.

  • Screening, allocation, quality assurance and oversight of the workload within the team.

  • Oversight and support of safeguarding concerns and enquiries.

  • Provide expertise to staff members in complex situations to support robust assessments, support planning and risk assessments.

  • Supervision of staff to manage performance and support development.

  • Identify learning needs with individuals and the team and promote and lead a culture of development.

  • Supporting strengths-based, creative, and aspirational peer group discussions.

  • Providing duty manager support.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.

  • Deputising for the Team Manager., Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.

    Within adult social care we are developing a younger adult's team in order to provide a robust pathway for our young people in Walsall transitioning from children's services to adult social care we are looking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner who is passionate about providing the best journey for young people coming into adult social care., Relevant degree in Social Work or equivalent, with registration with Social Work England or relevant professional organisation.

  • Post qualifying award (e.g. BIA, AMHP, Practice Educator).

  • Significant post-qualification experience in a statutory social work role.

  • Experience in practice development, staff supervision, coaching and mentoring.

  • Experience of working with children, young people, and families/adults in a multi-agency context.

  • Ability to act on own initiative to analyse information and plan interventions.

  • Commitment to continued professional development within own role and throughout the team., The Adult Social Care teams are working flexibly from home and office based as required, and flexibility and willingness to support across the borough is essential.
