Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an advanced practitioner physiotherapist to join Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust to take lead in the clinical delivery and leadership of the Stroke and Neurology physiotherapy services delivered across acute and community settings., As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team you will work closely with the medical staff and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the management of patients. You would be expected to carry a caseload on the inpatient stroke ward,with extendedclinical leadership and management across acute and community services.

A significant component of the post will involve operational support and staff supervision within the physiotherapy service. Applicants must therefore be able to demonstrate leadership skills to assist in the development and growth of this established team and influence further service and pathway improvement. You will play an active role in audits and research.

NB: there if no overnight on call requirement for this post however you will be required to participate in weekend working.

Main duties of the job

To take the lead role in the clinical delivery and leadership of the Inpatient Stroke and Neurology physiotherapy services.

To provide a physiotherapy assessment and treatment service at an advanced level for patients who have been admitted to hospital via a neurological pathway and patients with a range of neurological conditions.

To work as a key member of the MDT, in the management of neurological patients admitted to hospital

To lead in supervision, support, teaching and appraisal of physiotherapy staff and students, within the speciality.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant post graduate clinical knowledge of this specialist field, including having worked at band 6 level within the NHS. You must also be able to demonstrate flexibility, good time management skills, organisational skills and evidence of self-motivation.
