Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian with an interest in head and neck cancer & surgery to join our team on a fixed term basis to cover the current post holders maternity leave.

We will accept applications from candidates interested in both full time or part time hours.

You will join a dietetic team that is part of a large and friendly therapy department

If you are an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated Dietitian with a passion for Nutrition support and surgery, this may be your opportunity.

This post would be suitable for a highly motivated dietitian who already has knowledge and experience of working with this cohort of patients. You will work closely with the MDT to provide seamless dietetic care along the patients pathway. You will receive training and support as required. You will be expected to supervise and mentor student dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and junior staff.

Provide dietetic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring in Head and Neck Cancer services for Mid Essex patients and surgical candidates within the Essex Head and Neck network.

Developing and delivering an individualised treatment plan, whilst maintaining accurate patient records.

As an autonomous practitioner, have responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or the particular patient type, working without direct supervision.

Be involved in student training and the development of junior staff. Undertake evidence-based audit and service improvement projects and make recommendations to the dietetic lead for changes to practice by team. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.

Service Specific:

1. Have lead responsibility for the dietetic care of Head and Neck inpatients.

2. To work closely with the multidisciplinary team/s including members of the Head and Neck AHP team and hospital nutrition team to provide parenteral and enteral nutrition advice for inpatients.

3. To supervise allocated staff and provide support and training to dietetic team members.

4. To work very closely with the dietetic lead to plan service developments within Head and Neck Cancer services.

5. To participate in the setting of standards and policies within the Dietetic department and across the Trust.
