Full Job Description

  • Collaborate with teams and colleagues across the organisation to embed our risk management framework
  • Deliver a programme of risk management activities and initiatives, ensuring they are successfully implemented and embedded across the organisation
  • Maintain our risk tools and guidance, ensuring they remain fit for purpose, developing new processes and procedures as required
  • Design and deliver engaging training materials and facilitate risk workshops to enhance risk awareness across the organisation
  • Provide advice and support on risk management matters, enabling teams to identify, assess and monitor risks that could impact the organisation
  • Implement and manage our risk management communities of practice
  • Analyse data and produce regular reports and management information, presenting complex information in a simplified and engaging way
  • Investigate when risks materialise, identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available to support you with your incident role. The team The Risk and Assurance Team sits within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate and performs a 'second line of defence' role. We set out processes, standards and procedures to enable risks to be managed effectively and consistently at all levels of the organisation. We provide expert advice and develop training, resources and guidance to support staff., This is a fixed term contract post for 12 months. This is a hybrid role, so the successful candidate can be based at any Environment Agency office. Some travel will be required to attend national meetings, with some overnight stays. In this role you will collect and analyse a variety of data relating to risks from a variety of sources and use this to produce reports.     Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone?, We are seeking a risk specialist who has previous experience in a risk management role to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert advice and developing tools and guidance to support staff to identify, assess, mitigate and monitor risks effectively and consistently., You will need to have previous experience working in a risk management role, ideally performing a 'second line of defence' function.,
  • an awareness of the Orange Book and an understanding of risk management principles including risk governance and assurance
  • a proven track record of successfully managing projects, proactively monitoring and following up progress against targets, taking action or escalating where necessary
  • to be innovative and a good problem solver with the ability and confidence to make timely decisions
  • excellent influencing and persuading skills with a proven ability to achieve results
  • excellent data analytical skills, with a focus on quality and attention to detail
  • excellent written and verbal communications skills and be able to work with a wide range stakeholders, providing advice and guidance.
  • Ideally, you will also have:
  • A risk management qualification or relevant professional membership (e.g IRMCert)
  • Experience using PowerBI/ Power Apps
