Full Job Description

It is our mission to provide data that allows our products to fly & be certified; demonstrating strength & life of the cutting edge materials and aircraft components used to construct our aircraft.

We are busy developing and defining the physical and virtual test means in support of future aircraft products. We must be ready to test new lightweight sustainable materials, technologies and configurations such as the future hydrogen powered aircraft, super flexible high span wings and novel blended wing body aircraft.

The test team is organised into skill groups responsible for test leading, test means engineering (design & stress), advanced test technologies (such as hydraulics, data acquisition, metrology, control and instrumentation) and test operations (including calibration, preparation and test completion).

As part of the Global Graduate Programme, you will develop a broad understanding of testing; being supported to undertake rotational placements in skill areas of our team and the wider business to build a rounded understanding of the aircraft, the structural components and key relationships that the test centre has with other teams in the aircraft development process.

In the test centre you will be given the opportunity to get involved in a selection of the following areas:

  • Tests big & small: Designing test systems for small material coupons up to large tests of whole aircraft wings!

  • Working at the forefront of digital technologies: using AI and Data Driven Platforms to enhance our data analytics capabilities and virtual simulation test means

  • Developing advanced test methods: deploying and developing advanced measurement, control and data acquisition techniques

  • Building a "cool" future: designing & commissioning new cryogenic test facilities for hydrogen powered flight

  • Putting theory into practice: performing "hands on" testing

  • At the end of the two year development programme you will have developed into the position of Structures Test Engineer!

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent within Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Civil Engineering, Data Science, Applied Measurement Science / Metrology, Robotics/Mechatronics or Physics.

  • Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)

  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation

  • The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development., This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Every year we look for university graduates from around the world to join Airbus and help fill the critical roles for our future. We need people with the aspiration, enthusiasm and the talent to help us move forward and to change the world and deliver our vision to pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world.

  • When you begin your career with us, we accelerate your growth through our Airbus Global Graduate development journey, focusing on both soft skills, business knowledge and technical ability. You will be part of a two year programme that enables you to develop your professional skills; build your networks and gain a unique perspective on the world of Airbus whilst delivering in a specific position - each development journey is individual!

In addition to on-the-job activity and a comprehensive schedule of training opportunities, once a year you will also join your global graduate community for a development week where you meet your peers, hear from our leaders and learn from the best.

By the end of the programme, you will have gained everything you need to become an established team member in your position, having already demonstrated your value.
