Full Job Description

An Agile Coach leads programmes of digital skills initiatives to grow in house capabilities. They lead delivery and provide coaching and support for multiple cross functional agile software delivery teams, leadership teams and other stakeholders to build and embed a healthy product delivery culture and capability to achieve successful outcomes. They coach teams to be high performing and advocate for agile/lean practices inside and outside the BBC.,

  • Acts as a point of expertise within the organisation in agile methodologies and frameworks and how they are best applied, translating principles into practices that work for everyone Role models, promotes and champions agile and lean delivery standards and practices within a department, across the BBC, and with external organisations Is a change agent for teams, diagnosis problems and empowers teams to improve how they do things. Supports agile transformation, coaching at directorate level and coaching collaboration across organisational boundaries Builds enthusiasm and knowledge of agile practices and how to apply these at all levels of the organisation Responsible for assessing the maturity and application of agile practices in multi-disciplinary teams and the wider organisation Leads on identifying constraints and issues , and creates agile skills and coaching initiatives to mature agile practices for multiple teams at scale Coaches teams to be high, Decision making Develop, adapt and execute plans to improve outcomes in line with the portfolio strategy and product objectives, in line with direction from Senior Leaders Manages stakeholders' expectations and facilitates discussions in situations characterised by high risk, complexity, and constrained timescales Undertakes a wide range of activities factoring in multiple, diverse considerations, requiring complex analytics and decision making, interpretative thinking and a solutions-focused approach. Scope Will lead and manage specialist development programmes and coach delivery professionals and multi-disciplinary teams Ability to apply external sector and discipline knowledge, contextualising challenges and changes in the sector, to understand the relative positioning and strength of the BBC's services/practices. In-depth knowledge of how own sub-function/sub-divisional area integrates within the function/division, including how processes and resources interact to

    performing, improving team members' existing skills and capabilities. Motivates teams and individuals to adopt new techniques and outcome focussed delivery. Coaches on lean/agile techniques and to use data to measure success, inspect and adapt, and iterate delivery processes Designs, runs and facilitates workshops and digital masterclasses for teams, departments and senior stakeholders Identifies gaps and applies appropriate training for teams and individuals in agile software development practices and agile ways of working. Mentors and coaches delivery professionals to build capability and to perform to the best of their ability Creates diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environments where everybody feels supported to be their authentic self Actively participates in practice activity and supports the creation of a learning culture
  • Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience Essential
  • An expert agile practioner and coach with significant demonstrable experience of a range of agile and lean tools and techniques and experience applying these in complex environments Able to drive change and can lead, role model, and coach multi-diciplinary teams to become high performing Innovative and keeps up-to-date with the latest agile delivery and product development trends Experience implementing changes, maturing agile practices and instilling continuous improvement capabilities across teams, departments and within an organisation that has led to noticeable improvements to success metrics Can coach, mentor and upskill colleagues at all levels of an organisation as needed. Has experience coaching experts, delivery profressionals and senior leaders and developing them to deliver exceptional results Deep knowledge and understanding of the different ways to approach agile coaching in large organisations Skilled facilitator, able to facilitate in all
  • scenarios from discussions about difficult team dynamics to facilitating workshops or sessions appropriate for each stage of the product development lifecycle.
  • Able to challenge and influence groups of senior leaders A clear, confident and engaging communicator able to connect with people at all levels of an organisation. Able to influence and build trust and enthusiasm for agile product development practices and ways of working Experience in session planning and content design for agile workshops. Can create, run and facilitate training for individuals and teams Strong and influencial voice in agile ways of working and how it is best applied. Is able to influence behavior and ways of working of teams as well as senior stakeholders to gain buy-in to adopt more agile methods. Possesses a strong understanding of the media sector and BBC competitors, and the relevant in-depth knowledge of current industry trends and issues relating to their functional area
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of all BBC regulatory and contractual obligations as they pertain to their functional area
