Full Job Description

Reports to: Senior Parks Improvement Officer Responsible for:

  • Day-to-day management of 13 allotment sites including lettings, checking accuracy
  • of invoicing, plot inspections and maintenance.
  • Provide expert and reliable information, advice and services to allotments holders
  • and Slough residents.
  • With support from the team lead on the development and implementation of a
  • strategy for allotments.
  • Promote the use of allotment sites.
  • Develop sustainability initiatives for allotment sites.
  • Undertake administrative duties for the parks and open spaces team, responding
  • directly to enquiries and complaints from members of the public.
  • Collection and presentation of data for national and local performance indicators.
  • To ensure healthy and safe operation and use by the public of allotment sites.
  • To inspect allotment sites and take appropriate actions to avoid dangerous
  • occurrence, arrange repairs and other works as required.
  • To instruct contractor and obtain quotations / tenders in line with the Council's
  • financial regulations and standing orders.
  • Undertake training to enhance the service provided and to meet the demands of the
  • service as required.
  • Positively demonstrate council's values and behaviours in your role, to support the

  • Ensure that all tasks and activities within your remit comply with the council's
  • constitution, policies and procedures, financial regulations and legislation relating to the Data Protection Act, and Health & Safety.

  • Under the general supervision of the Senior Parks Improvement Officer; to be
  • responsible for the coordination, administration and assist in the development of the allotment sites Updated January 2024
  • Liaison with allotment holders, federation representatives and contractors
  • Using the council's allotment management software, manage waiting lists, lettings,
  • invoicing and tenancy terminations
  • To work as part of parks and open spaces team, receiving enquiries by
  • correspondence, face to face and telephone, taking appropriate action to provide an efficient and effective service for the customer, seeking to maximum resolution of enquiries at first point of contact.
  • Lead on the administration of all enquiries and complaints regarding parks, open
  • spaces, allotments and grounds maintenance. Liaising with the relevant officers.
  • Help develop and implement a strategy for allotments
  • Main Accountabilities:
  • Liaison with allotment tenants and members of the public, other team members,
  • managers and contractors in a professional and courteous manner, resolving on site problems with minimal public inconvenience.
  • Letting allotment plots and updating records on allotment software systems.
  • Dealing with enquiries from tenants and applicants.
  • Assisting the general team with administration and minor projects.

    Pay SCP: 8-12
  • Salary: £27,056-£28,775 inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance of £1,064 per annum
