Full Job Description

The role is responsible for the global development, approval and management of products and services for the Alternative Investments Group (AIG) within the Investment and Wealth Solutions (IWS) division of Global Private Banking. AIG provide solutions across the following key asset classes:

  • Private Markets
  • Real Estate
  • Hedge Funds
  • Product Management in this regard encompasses, but is not limited to, tasks such as Product Development; Product Approval; Product Launch; Product Review; Strategic Business Projects; Risk Management and Control; Operating Model and process design; Support with Business Cases; Maintenance of Product Roadmaps; Vendor Governance; and management of relevant Internal Product Governance Committees. In this role you will:
  • Work with AIG Product Specialist teams and other front office colleagues to define the pipeline of new product developments spanning across Private Markets and Real Estate offerings, either sourced internally within HSBC or from third party managers. This typically consists of a feeder fund programme and is complemented with a growing list of evergreen / semi-liquid solutions, as well as in-house / direct funds.
  • Collaborate with the HSBC Alternatives business within HSBC Asset Management to develop the abovementioned products, as well as operating models for new bespoke services targeted at the Ultra High Net Worth client segment
  • Manage GPB product delivery working in close collaboration with global functional colleagues (Risk, Legal, Compliance etc.) through following our product governance processes and securing the requisite approvals from Global Product Committees, and supporting Local teams with their local approvals.
  • Build out GPB's existing Alternatives proposition to the wealth markets in line with the Wealth Model Transformation philosophy of making alternatives more accessible to clients across the GPB&W spectrum. This includes working with IWS Markets to understand demand from new markets and simultaneously working with HSBC Alternatives to agree how best to satisfy this demand,
  • Continually streamline, improve, develop and implement processes associated with the AIG business, for example exploring streamlining of product development processes and review of demand assessment methodology to improve accuracy

    To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of alternative investment products and services, along with their associated risks and legal / regulatory implications
  • Experience of working with front office teams (Investment Counsellors / Relationship Managers) to understand complex needs / requirements of clients seeking to access these products
  • Extensive product development and management experience and wider understanding of Product, operations and risk (incl. system requirements / dependencies)
  • A proven ability to work with organisational agility and get results through effective management of processes
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
