Full Job Description

As part of our ongoing transformation plan, we are looking to build, develop and recruit into world-class data and analytics functions that can be deployed to create value across our business and as a result we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Operational Analyst - Reporting & Analytics to join our Clothing & Home Supply Chain & Logistics Function. This is a position within our Reporting & Analytics function and will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to influence and support the culture change required to become the data driven organisation we are well on the way to being! You will be responsible for owning the end-to-end life cycle of key operational reports, including 3rd Party Brands, Sale, and Operational Trading. Alongside this, the successful candidate will also support the data quality and incident management process to ensure that the data we are sharing with our stakeholders is, and remains, of the highest quality. In this role you will partner senior stakeholders to inform and demonstrate the power and importance of data driven decisions and solutions whilst understanding the key business drivers for M&S and how they relate to the overarching business strategy. You will also support various programmes across the broader clothing and home landscape to ensure that their analytical and reporting needs are sufficiently catered for and aligned across a matrixed operating model. You will have experience of extracting, transforming, and loading large amounts of data using SQL or Python and be comfortable presenting this information to users via a visualisation tool such as PowerBI. Core to your success will be the experience of building a narrative through data, conveying your findings in an accessible and informative way. You will also have experience in managing business incidents, driving data quality and source system issues to successful conclusions, and managing the ongoing quality of analytical assets in a production environment as well as working effectively with onshore and offshore technical resources.   • Collects, organises and manipulates large amounts of data using databases and other technologies.
  • Presents and re-structure data tailored to required output ensuring that all reporting meets user requirements and look for ways to continually improve accuracy and usability
  • Works with large datasets using frameworks such as Azure Data Lake Services, Azure Synapse or Hadoop. (EIH/EAH) and understands how to access and join data from different databases.
  • Builds data models and uses insight to make recommendations

    Can tell a story through data
  • Thinks creatively about problems and can support decision makers' business-related questions using the data sets available
  • Some understanding of business functions and the financial and operational process drivers of the business
  • Experience using visualisation tools e.g. Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau
  • Experience querying data query using SQL or Python
