We are currently recruiting for an Economics Analyst to join our existing Economics Team.
This is an analyst role within the Economics team to produce insightful analysis on smaller businesses, assess the impact of British Business Bank activity and produce research reports published on the Bank's website.

The Economics team is part of the Strategy, Policy and Economics Directorate, which is at the heart of decision-making at the Bank. There are currently 13 members of the economics team, with wide experience of economics in both the public and private sector.
The Strategy, Policy and Economics Directorate is a centre of expertise for government on smaller business finance in the UK. The Economics team role includes producing a high-profile research programme including cutting-edge analysis of small business finance markets, contributing towards the development of Bank products and programmes. and evaluations of the Bank's activities. The successful post-holder will work under the guidance of a senior manager in the economics team on a variety of workstreams.

To be considered for this role you will have an understanding of microeconomics, including market failures, and an ability to apply this understanding to real life economic problems. You will also have the ability to produce high quality economic analysis including selecting and improving suitable data sources and methods of analysis, as well as quality assuring outputs and be able to communicate the implications and limitations of analysis clearly.
You will ideally have an understanding of the British Business Bank and its activities and must be proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and Word. The ability to use econometric, mapping and statistical packages is an advantage, although training will be provided.
