Full Job Description
This is a really exciting and rare opportunity that requires absolutely no previous veterinary experience, which will teach you all the ins and outs of veterinary practice life by incorporating regular reception and patient-care shifts in to your working week.
This role involves assisting our whole team - Vets, Nurses and Receptionists - on a daily basis. You will learn how to greet our clients, make appointments and give great advice on reception. You'll be taught how to clean and maintain the practice and its equipment, and you'll help to take care of our in-patients - amongst so many other things. It can physically and emotionally challenging, as you'll experience first-hand about all the highs and lows of looking after other people's pets in their time of need. It's often messy, sometimes smelly!… but always rewarding. You will be in close proximity to medical and surgical situations from day one, so you must have the constitution to not only cope with scenes of surgery, but be excited by and thrive in that environment.
You will be provided with a fixed and reliable rota, enabling you to plan your personal life around work well in to the future. Your 40-hour contract will include weekday shifts 9am - 7pm, and one in three weekends (Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 10:30am-4:30pm), but you will not be required to work any out of hours nor on call.
For the right candidate there may be the opportunity to undertake an Apprenticeship in Veterinary Nursing after at least one year, but this is not a requirement.
If you are prepared to kick off 2025 with an exciting career change, and you enjoy working with people at least as much as you enjoy working with animals (because pets don't bring themselves to the vets!), then we would love to hear from you.
Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
