Full Job Description
We are looking to recruit an experienced Animal Management Technician for our brand-new Animal Management facility. The unit comprises of multiple rooms housing a wide range of small mammals, exotic mammals, aquatics, reptiles, herptiles and insects.
You will be responsible for organising and carrying out routine care of our animals and their brand-new facilities and ensuring a high degree of animal welfare. The role will include managing a small team of part time technicians and rotas to always maintain cover in the unit. Also planning rotas for lecturers to utilise rooms for the requirements of our students on various Level 1,2 and 3 courses along HNC/HND. Maintenance and ordering of stock and equipment will also be essential.
The successful applicant will have previous experience of working with animals and a related qualification. Ideally you will have worked as a technician before in a similar setting, but are looking for a new challenge to grow an already established department. The experience to work with small groups of students would be an advantage. The college is planning to establish a dog grooming and training facility in 2025 so any expertise in this area would also be desirable although not essential.
