Full Job Description

The job is with the Anticoagulation Service and the base will be the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Services (NMCPS) Directorate at the Macclesfield District General Hospital. Part of the role will be utilisation of the computerised dose adjustment system (DAWN AC) at community clinics, along with the associated technical and clerical duties., We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales. We have put together a wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our goal is to be a world-class centre of achievement, where patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people come to learn, work and research,

  • To support the scientific and technical workforce performed by the qualified staff in the anticoagulation department.
  • To ensue that all procedures are undertaken according to laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • To support the anticoagulation team in the provision of the service to all users of the department.
  • To perform near patient testing at anticoagulation clinics using INR monitoring devices.
  • To undertake home visits to perform near patient testing using INR monitoring devices.
  • To telephone dose changes to patients as directed by the anticoagulation manager or other anticoagulation practitioner.
  • To input patient referrals on to the DAWN anticoagulation software database.
