As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Application Engineer with highly desirable experience inVisual Weathertosupport theintegrationand transition into liveof anewIT application and infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user. TheApplicationEngineerwill provide input and expertise to maintain alignments with best practices and recommendingApplication integration processimprovements.They will alsosupport the development of juniorengineers in the program/team. This individual is expected to create an environment for innovation and technical mentoring. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuringcompliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges. The successful individual willbe expected to:

  • ProvideDevOpsskillsengaging in a scrum team being an active part of its delivery and continuous improvement
  • Develop, test, documentand deployelements ofthesolution andensure KT is appropriate for the movement into service
  • Work with delivery teams to design and implementand integratemodern, scalable products using a range ofexisting,new and emerging technologies
  • Collaborate withthe wider teamsseeking to learn and improve with every sprint
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the contextof thedelivery
  • Work with Product Owners to understand user needs for workflows and UX configurations

    We are looking for someone with excellent organisation communicationanddevelopmentskills who has:
  • Understanding and experience of the importance of secure by design and delivering within a secure environment
  • Experience in complex application deployment and integration in both Cloud and On-Prem environments
  • Anunderstanding of DevOps tooling including Ansible,Jenkinsand other pipeline technologies
  • Goodknowledge & experience withdevelopment in, andsoftware engineering best practices for:
  • Java,Python,JSON,Javascript, APIs, Web Services
  • Goodexperience of containerisation concepts and tools such as Docker andKubernetes(EKS)
  • Experience of system integrationmethodologiesand data visualisation
  • Goodknowledge & experience of API development and management, including rigorous test and assurance processes
  • Experience and knowledge ofSonarQube,JFrog,NiFi, Tomcat, Jira, Junit,Jmeter, Bitbucket, Nexus,Trivy,, Gitlab,andBamboo
  • Goodgeneral knowledge of Networking Technologies including load balancing and firewalls
  • HighlyDesirable: Experience withVisual Weather software
  • Desirable: Experience with OGC WebSerivces
  • Desirable: Experience with Thin Client Applicationdelivery
  • Desirable: Working within a Scaled AgileFrameowrk(SAFe) delivery approach
  • Experience withAmazonWeb Services(AWS), APIs and Data Distribution Protocols
  • Goodanalyticaland problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
