Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available to become part of Bloomsbury's IT Business Systems team and gain first-hand exposure to a broad range of activities across our publishing business.

You will gain insights into the day-to-day operations of the technical side of the business and experience with industry-standard software in the course of providing essential support to Bloomsbury staff across all publishing areas. You will also have the opportunity to work with the ONIX for Books bibliographic standard in a hands-on way, as you provide direct support for the company's data customers, including Amazon.

The role

  • Providing excellent first-line systems support, as part of a friendly team based in our central London offices

  • Producing reports on data quality and open issues

  • Handling title data on third-party title databases (e.g. Amazon Vendor Central)

  • Assisting with systems testing and configuration

  • Monitoring operations, such as scheduled data interfaces

  • Fielding and investigating issues with data feeds to 3^rd parties

  • Supporting data quality initiatives

    Customer-focused; with a professional, patient, and friendly manner

  • Conversant with basic IT concepts

  • Strong systems aptitude

  • Used to juggling a variety of tasks

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Good MS Office skills, especially Excel

  • Biblio3 software + ONIX for Books knowledge a plus

    The role is a full-time permanent position


  • Salary Pay Range: Annual Salary £28,000 - £29,000

    The role is based at Bloomsbury's main office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office-based / 3 days home-based (or fully office-based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Wednesday and Thursday.

    As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury's Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
