As part of Renishaw's Spectroscopy division continued growth, we are seeking to recruit a Raman application scientist to work within the UK applications team. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to grow their knowledge of Raman spectroscopy, its capabilities, and applications with industry leading experts. Working with a diverse team of specialists from different scientific disciplines, this role focuses on technical sales support, as well as scientific instrument and application development. This role requires significant customer facing interaction and would be well suited to a self-motivated individual who has good communication skills and can use their initiative and knowledge to identify and solve challenges faced by our customers.
This is an applied spectroscopy role and would be ideal for an applicant wanting to move from the academic world to a commercial one, whilst still working in the scientific arena and offers broad scope for career growth.
Based at our Innovation centre set in beautiful Gloucestershire, you will have a fantastic working environment whether you want the hustle and bustle of nearby Bristol, or the calm of the Cotswolds. The role allows for hybrid working, provides a competitive salary plus benefits, and includes full training as required.
Responsibilities

  • Supporting the sales team by demonstrating the capabilities and performance of Renishaw's Raman instrumentation on a range of customer samples, during live demonstrations and by running local seminars and workshops

  • Discovering and developing new applications of Raman spectroscopy, presenting results at international conferences

  • Training customers

  • Providing scientific content for marketing literature, including videos, webinars, and written literature

  • Working with our design teams to develop innovative Raman instrumentation

    Degree or PhD in a science related discipline

  • The right to work in the UK

  • Practical experience conducting Raman spectroscopy and data analysis

  • An interest in promoting Raman spectroscopy to a global audience

  • A high level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office software suite

  • A full, valid passport and an interest in travelling internationally up to 4 weeks a year

  • A full UK driving licence


  • Desirable requirements
  • Experience in scientific instrument sales process

  • Knowledge of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and/or atomic force microscopy (AFM)

    The ideal applicant will be self-motivated, organised, and have an attention to detail in their work. They must be able to multi-task, prioritise, and deliver to deadlines. The individual will be personable and a good communicator, both verbally and in writing, and be able to work with others from different countries and cultures. They will be able to engage in technical/scientific conversation with customers. Finally, they will be able to have a positive and confident attitude and deliver a high standard of customer service.
