Full Job Description
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for driving the growth of outcome or performance-based contracts for pumping and treatment applications across Europe. This person will put together technical as well as commercial proposals for moderate to complex customer process solutions, requiring performance/outcome guarantees on a long-term basis.,
- Provides inputs to drive the design of the technical solution/build appropriate solution based on customer requirements and site-specific considerations. This will require knowledge of a wide range of technologies, as well as the fundamentals of electrical power engineering, process controls, SCADA & IoT, water treatment, water hydraulics, and structural design.
- Selects appropriate equipment/materials to meet customer needs and develop project costing and pricing.
- Generates customer proposals utilizing standard tools, and seeks to gain appropriate approval levels.
- Accompanies and assists commercial teams on customer site visits - where a site appraisal/feasibility study is required.
- Plays an active role in the safety culture of the company, ensuring the safety of oneself and the safety of others.
- Administers and reviews submittal documents that have been prepared for customers and/or tenders.
- Coordinates with a wide spectrum of stakeholders to adhere to strict customer project timelines.
- Identifies opportunities to vertically integrate xylem products to be able to deliver end-to-end engineered solutions.
- Builds and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders within all of Xylem Europe's commercial teams.
- Stays informed on changes to EU legislation that will drive product and market/application opportunities.

High-level of proficiency with MS Office applications. - Excellent ability to communicate in English (other European languages are a plus).
- Cross-boundary collaboration with stakeholders from other business areas and disciplines.
- Ability to build relationships and to influence key stakeholders without having a direct supervisory relationship.
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively in customer-facing settings.
- Good understanding of technical and commercial risks involved in the design and development of solutions.
- Solid understanding of the sales process and how organizational role influences outcome.
- Working understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
- Competency in multiple standard equipment platforms (Flygt, Wedeco, and Lowara) and their employment.
- Thorough understanding of common components and their application.
- Good understanding of pricing and financial principles as related to lifecycle services and/or long-term contractual arrangements.
- Positive mindset with a focus on what can be done (rather than on what cannot be done).
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently with initiative in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel frequently to perform joint commercial discovery visits/site audits with commercial teams. Up to 20% travel. Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification,
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil or similar).
- 4 to 10 years' experience in related fields; experience within construction, industrial, municipal or mining industries preferred.
- Experience with building commercial and/or technical solutions in an industrial services perimeter is a plus.
