Position Summary

An excellent opportunity has become available to join Kennametal as an Application Engineer.

As an Application Engineer you will be responsible for evaluating our customers manufacturing needs and providing a complete engineering solution with associated costs.

Working with our customers in the South of England, served through both direct and in-direct channels, you will engage in customer-facing activities such as analysis of complex applications, process improvements, tooling trials and recommendations in support of the customers technical needs, whilst also providing technical support to our sales team and other departments.

This will require a level of technical expertise that will include a working knowledge of various materials, knowledge of a variety of machine tools and modern machining processes.

Competence with 3 and 5 axis programming would be advantageous along with the ability to manipulate solid models, in addition to being able to provide advice on fixturing (work-holding & tooling), and machining techniques.

What We're Looking For

-A recognized qualification in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or time served apprenticeship.
-Experience within the metal cutting or precision tooling industry.
-Understanding of programming 3 and 5 Axis CNC Turning and Milling machines and working with exotic materials.
-An In-depth understanding of the manufacturing industry and concepts associated with Kennametal Products.
-An innovative and self-motivated individual who is able to work both independently and as part of a team
-Proficiency with MS Office in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM (MS Dynamics)
-A working knowledge of CAD/CAM software is also desirable.
-Working within the South of England/ field based
