Full Job Description
As a SCADA Engineer you will be focused on Operational SCADA and Control System platform management and support. This will include hardware, software, integration and commissioning support on all operational and reporting systems installed across the Onshore Fleet of Wind Farms.
Other accountabilities may include:
- Dealing with data intensive environments where reliability and accuracy are critical.
- Engineering improvements thus guaranteeing uptime of the systems sourcing and capturing data.
- Operating in close quarters with various departments and divisions within the wider SSE portfolio, where you would be expected to provide support when required on short notice.
A minimum Diploma qualification in either Engineering or Information Technology, accompanied by proven hands-on experience of Server Operating Hardware, Software and components. Along with knowledge of PLC operation and management.
- Due to the specialist nature of this position, the following would also be of benefit. Hands on experience of server builds including database configurations, installation of electrical/control cabinets and associated components, their configuration, testing and commissioning. Knowledge of their maintenance and associated fault finding would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Network Design, Operation and Industry Cyber Security requirements, the necessary methods of implementation along with documented compliance procedures would be an advantage. Similarly with knowledge of Virtual Machine environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential, as will the ability to negotiate and influence across varying levels of stakeholders and manage conflict in high pressure situations. You'll also have the ability to work closely and effectively with the wider operational teams, to ensure maintenance requirements and timescales are met.
- You'll need excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of the implications of engineering activities and decisions. Being a team player with the ability to be autonomous when required is a major part of the role.
It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence as remote working will be required as part of the role.

Base Location: Flexible England, however our preference is that you will be based in proximity of one of our oncoming sites based in England, which includes but is not limited to:- Lancashire, Yorkshire, Midlands. (Due to our increased Battery and Solar Portfolio in England, alternative locations will be considered, particularly allowing local engagement with our facilities.)
Salary: £52,285-£60,730 + performance related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
