Full Job Description
We currently have an exciting and rare opportunity for an apprentice Brewer to join the team in our purpose-built brew house at Head Office. Our beer has always been at the heart of our business and we're looking for someone at the start of their brewing career who wants to continue our long heritage. We are offering study support to complete a Level 4 Brewer Apprenticeship with clear progression to a career. This is a full-time position. Who are we looking for: You will enjoy being in a hands-on role with a passion for all things' food and drink development and interest in beer and brewing would be advantageous. Each shift is varied, and you never know what the day can bring. You'll be a team player, working regularly with our small team of Brewers, lifting and moving raw materials, carrying out the brewing process and packing and storing the finished product. This position is extremely physical and demanding with repetitive motions. You will work in hot and cold temperatures. You will need a creative mind with a head for numbers as you will be checking and adjusting recipes as you go. You will work in a team that embodies the Daniel Thwaites' principles of Innovation and Craftsmanship, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the industry. GCSE Math's and English would be advantageous but not essential as this can be completed alongside the apprenticeship. Your day to day as an Apprentice Brewer:
- Supporting all day-to-day brewery operations - brewing & cask racking
- Cleaning of brewery lines, vessels and packaging equipment
- Laboratory work & accurate data collection and record keeping, QA/QC duties
- Ensuring good stock management for raw ingredients along the brewing process
- Monitoring brewing and processing of batches to control quality, consistency, and efficiency
- Follow written SOP's always ensuring and maintaining the highest safety standards
- General brewery cleaning & cask cleaning
- Flexible working attitude
During your first 18-24 months, we will support you while you complete your Level 4 Brewer qualification. This will be delivered at the ICBS (International Centre for Brewing Science), sited in the University of Nottingham campus on residential workshops through a structured training programme, and tailored for your learning needs.
