Full Job Description
The role is a key part of the nursing team,offering compassionate care to patients, carers, and relatives at the Trust. You will work under the direction of a qualifiedmember of staff to ensure the safe and skilled delivery of a range of clinicaltasks. You will need to maintain a professional appearanceat all times and build positive, respectful relationships with staff, patients,and families. You will protect the privacy, dignity, andconfidentiality of individuals, ensuring that equality and diversity arerespected in everything you do. During your apprenticeship, you will learn thenecessary theory and skills to undertake a range of core clinical skills,including but not limited to :
- Venepuncture, bloodpressure, cannula removal, heart rate monitoring, temperature, swabbing,samples such as urine dip, wound care and simple dressing, pregnancy tests, andcatheter removal and insertion., Understanding your role
- Working under thedirection of a registrant,participate fully in the deliveryof planned nursing care, within the boundaries of your role which mayinclude chaperoning of patients, escorting / transferring of patients and providing 1-1 patient-centred care or caring for agroup of patients that require enhanced care.
- Demonstrates own duties to new startersand supervises work of studentsand healthcare support workers
- Frequent exposureto emotional / distressing events,, breaking of bad news.
- Assist in thecare of patients at end of life and after death.
- Orders suppliesunder the directionof the nurse in charge.
- Participate in patient and public involvement activities.
- Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of ward environment.
- Undertake mandatorytraining and role specific trainingrelevant to role.
- Record and escalate patientphysiological observations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of sepsis and when to escalate to a registrant / medic
- Acts on own initiative when delivering patientcare with supervision accessible.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you'll needGCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4-9 (A-C) or Functional Skills Level 2,and must not have previously started an apprenticeship in the same field. Youmust also be aged 16+ and have been a resident in the UK / EU for the last threeyears., Good attendance record. - For community, a driving license and available vehicle to use in conjunction with work., To be eligible to undertake an Apprenticeship in Healthcare Support and has not started an apprenticeship in the same field prior.
- English GCSE Grade A - C, 4 9 or Functional Skills Level 2.
- Maths GCSE Grade A C, 4 9 or Functional Skills Level 2.
- Complete a mandatory BKSB initial maths and English. assessment as part of the apprentice enrolment process. Desirable
- Any further qualifications and training relevant to this post.
