The Bedford College Group seeks a confident and talented individual to join the journey as a Digital Champion. This exciting opportunity will see you join the college at the beginning of their journey as they embed technology and evangelising the use of educational technology. The successful candidate will be embarking on a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship programme with Primary Goal as the training provider. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a Multi-Academy Trust's transformational IT journey.

Job Role:

  • · To support the Digital Experience Team in enhancing the use of digital technologies


  • within the educational environment.
  • · The apprentice will gain hands-on experience and develop skills in digital learning


  • technologies.
  • · Supporting staff and engaging learners with innovative tools.

  • · Assist in the development and implementation of digital learning resources.

  • · Provide technical support and training to staff and students on digital tools.

  • · Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of digital learning initiatives.


  • Main Duties:

    Department Specific Responsibilities
    1. Be the Digital Enthusiast: Maintain a visible presence across the college, adopting a

    proactive approach to engage with students, faculty, and staff. Ensure that AI-infused

    technology is running seamlessly, creating an environment where innovation thrives.
    2. Student-Driven Innovation: Collaborate with a group of passionate students to

    establish and support tech-related extracurricular clubs. Encourage creativity and

    exploration, sparking the next generation of tech innovators.
    3. Innovate Teaching and Learning: Support spearheading the integration of

    technology across the curriculum. Helping the Learning Coaches transform classrooms

    into dynamic spaces where digital tools enhance the learning process, making

    education more engaging and effective.
    4. Personalised Learning Experiences: Explore AI-driven tools and solutions to provide

    students with tailored learning paths, predictive analytics, and adaptive resources.
    5. Drive Technological Transformation: Audit the college's existing technological

    infrastructure and champion the adoption of new and existing technologies.

    Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure they are equipped with the latest tools and

    resources to enhance their teaching methods.
    6. Bridge the Gap: Act as a crucial link between technical support services and the

    college's academic team. Facilitate seamless communication, helping ensure that

    technology-related issues are promptly addressed, and resources are optimised.
    7. Foster Digital Skills: Develop a comprehensive action plan to improve the digital skills

    of both staff and students. Identify areas for growth and create programs that empower

    learners to thrive in the digital age.
    8. Digital Visibility: Plan, implement, and maintain a captivating digital presence for the college. Utilise AI-driven content creation and promotion strategies to attract and engage both current and prospective students. 9. Technical Support: Collaborate with vendor support contacts to resolve technical challenges related to desktop computing equipment and software, with a focus on AI-driven troubleshooting and solutions. 10. Personalised Guidance: Offer 1:1 assistance and guidance to students and staff on desktop applications, including AI-powered tools for maximising Teaching, Learning and Assessment in the classroom.

    Statutory Duties:

    · SAFEGUARDING - To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of

    children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with

    TBCG policy and procedure

    · TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT - To participate proactively in training & development

    including any required qualification development

    Your training will be provided by Primary Goal, an award-winning training provider specialising in the digital industries.

    As part of this opportunity, you will:
  • Audit the school's current use of education technology

  • Promote the use of new and existing technologies and supporting staff with this

  • Act as a conduit between technical support services and the wider staff team

  • Identify an action plan for wider staff and pupil digital skills development

  • Identify and support the development of a tech-related lunchtime or after school club with a group of children

  • Develop the school's use of technology to facilitate teaching and learning across the curriculum and / or within computing as a subject

  • Establish and implement the use of online collaborative tools for organisational and curriculum delivery

  • Investigate the use of data in an education context

  • Support the school to maintain a positive and professional online reputation

  • Plan, implement and maintain an element of the school's organisational digital presence

  • As a Primary Goal apprentice, you will have access to:
  • Comprehensive pre-apprenticeship induction programme (including health and safety and technical specifics)

  • Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship standard with 15 half-day training sessions

  • Being part of the Primary Goal community will give apprentices access to a range of other apprentices (with varying levels of experience) who can share good practice and offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!
    Apprentices will have access to specialist industry partners for technology on hand to provide advice and support, access to resources and themed training days.
    The Primary Goal portal is an online dashboard that will provide apprentices with a knowledge base to access information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

  • Vacancy Location:

    The role will mostly be based at the new Maritime Academy however, there may be instances where the apprentice may be required to work across other schools within the trust across Medway.

    In addition, there may be opportunities to work with the family of schools consisting of both primary and secondary schools across Kent, Hampshire and Devon.

    We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
