Full Job Description

We are looking for an Apprentice Painter who will paint walls, ceilings, skirting boards, glossing woodwork, skirting boards, bannisters, doors. Clean and maintain all painting equipment, including brush, rollers, sprayers, pumps, learn how they operate, and proper set-up. Read and understand work orders, the project scope, and safety instructions. You will be enrolled for the Painter and Decorator Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard course and be required to attend one day a week.

Your accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

Working as part of a team to carry out painting/decorating and related works to external and communal areas of Gateway Properties and work in occupied and vacant properties either as a stand-alone job or in conjunction with other trades.

Where the work involves materials and/or equipment which do not appear in their van stock, to attend the authorised merchant and/or hire centre in advance to obtain materials in accordance with purchasing procedures.

Plan and organise your work in an economical and effective manner, making the best use of your available time, transport and materials in accordance with specified company priority response times.

Use a company issued PDA where provided to carry out the job role e.g. receiving instruction's, accurately completing works orders, general communications and logging all materials used.

To be aware of his/her responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure safe working systems and procedures are adopted at all times including the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment.

To complete the repair works as rapidly as possible ensuring that a quality job is done and, wherever possible, completing the job at the first visit. If this is not possible, the property should be left clean and tidy, a follow-on appointment agreed with the resident, and the computer system amended accordingly

If issued with a company van, ensuring that it is driven in accordance with Gateway's safe driving policy. Also to ensure that it is kept clean and in good tidy condition and carrying out weekly maintenance tasks such as checking oil and water levels and tyre condition and pressures., Simply Health - help towards the costs of dentist, optician, and private medical appointments.

Pension - up to 10% employer contribution.

Current CSCS card demonstrating the necessary health and safety component
Current UK driving license (desirable)
Good awareness of health and safety at work, including risk assessment, the need to follow safe working procedures and willing and able to wear and/or use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Good communication and customer care skills
Should be able to work safely at height
Ability to operate PDAs or tablet computers to receive work orders
