We have a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Plumber to join our Estates Team at Bedfordshire Hospitals, you will assist and proactively supporting maintenance and repair of mechanical services, you will be required to attend college at Bedford once a week to learn Mechanical Engineering., Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics. Please review all documents attached to ensure you familiarize yourself with all requirements of the job., 1. To learn to Identify, diagnose and rectify faults, and carry out repairs and planned maintenance of mechanical services, plant and equipment including but not limited to steam raising plant, air conditioning/ventilation systems, heating systems, water and drainage systems, macerators, catering equipment, hydrotherapy pool, ward equipment.
2. To learn the processes of reactive and planned maintenance of a more complex nature in the buildings engineering services related to the core skill of the post holder.
3. Complete all mandatory training as required.
4. Learn existing and new installations, commission and test new work associated with the core skill. Assist team members where other skills are involved.
5. Learn to assist and communicate with clinical staff to arrange shutdowns and maintenance of equipment and plant.
6. To learn to work safely on heating/cooling and water services, ventilation in accordance with all statutory regulations and health and safety legislation, and training towards an appointed Competent Person for Trust properties.
7. To learn to carry out periodic checks, servicing and testing of plant and equipment, in accordance with planned maintenance programmes and schedules.

All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post.

This apprenticeship offered will be in the following skills set - Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Plumber
Our starting salary for this apprenticeship:
Band 3 - Y1 Bottom, Y2 Incremental, Y3. Top step point
Apprentice wage will increase yearly or upon completion of progressive stages.
The contract hours are 37.5 hours per week on an initial 48 Month Fixed Term Contract. + Annual Leave + NHS (National Health Service) pension
