Are you passionate about engaging and promoting Apprenticeships and Career pathways within the NHS?
We are looking for an Apprenticeships and Careers Coordinator to help to attract and develop a workforce with the skills, knowledge and competence necessary to deliver safe patient care, and to enhance the quality of service delivery in line with our Trust vision of 'Best Care for Everyone' and our 'Journey to Outstanding'.
To succeed in this role, you'll need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to work well under pressure and multi-task under tight deadlines. Experience in apprenticeships, teaching or working with young people is essential in this position. You will be part of an expanding Apprenticeships and Careers team with a positive attitude for attracting people into NHS professions.
Additional working pattern details: Monday - Friday
This would also be suitable for a secondment opportunity
Interview date: TBC, Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to fulfil apprenticeship strategy and by increasing awareness and engagement of staff at all levels maximise enrolments of recruited and existing staff to apprenticeship programmes. This will include apprentice roles in: Clinical Healthcare, Allied Healthcare Professions, Healthcare Scientists and non-clinical roles within and outside of career pathways at levels 2-7
- To understand and be able to articulate to others potential career pathways; participating in career clinics, engagement and other events to meet and explain to staff
- Ensure learning and development opportunities (including traineeships, apprenticeships, T Levels, functional skills and other learning provision) are promoted, made more accessible and staff engagement is encouraged
- Undertake a range of promotional activities (eg key promotional weeks/events, development of literature, flyers use of intranet, taster sessions, bulletins etc) attend departmental meetings throughout our Trust promoting NHS careers and awareness of work based learning opportunities
- Work with Heads of Department and Heads of Profession to develop a more flexible workforce based on staff competences to improve patient care or support functions and where appropriate
- Provide advice and guidance regarding recruitment, contracting, capability/ performance/ disciplinary and sickness monitoring to department managers and mentors signposting for engagement with formal HR process where appropriate
- To be conversant with Apprenticeship funding: rules and guidance for employers and aware of apprenticeship standard development (trailblazers) and apprenticeship standards reviews and considerate of the opportunities these offer to GHNHSFT existing and recruited staff
- Participate in procurement tendering activities both internally and with integrated care system colleagues to engage External Training, Further Education and Higher Education providers to deliver apprenticeship programmes
- Work in partnership with External Training, Further Education and Higher Education providers to plan and implement programmes of learning which meet Trust and staff needs
- Manage the delivery and evaluation of all externally provided awards/ programmes / apprenticeship schemes. Co-ordinating the organisation and smooth running of the programmes, this may include making decisions on recruitment of candidates, ensuring potential candidates have completed mandatory requirements prior to enrolment eg. literacy and numeracy, arranging dates / times / venues for awareness and induction sessions, requesting candidate progress reports (where applicable against target dates) and evaluation with candidates, managers and providers
- Assist with the organisation of gateway and End Point Assessments
- If required attend apprentice or contract review meetings with External Training, Further Education and Higher Education providers to ensure progress of apprentices and monitoring of contracts
- Engage with recruitment department to support with value-based recruitment
- Maintain effective and professional communication (including permitted social media engagement e.g. filming) with the public, external providers e.g. Further Education and Higher Education providers, Gloucestershire schools and other agencies to cascade information regarding apprenticeship opportunities
- Prioritise work load and delegate administrative responsibilities appropriately to ensure objectives are achieved
- Represent GHNHSFT or department as requested at National, Regional and Trust meetings.
- Liaise with the Manager of Apprenticeships and Careers regarding work streams to ensure continued alignment to Strategic Objectives and where required to propose policy changes in own area and discuss impact of or changes to policies which are the responsibility of other areas.
- Keep up to date with national and local policies, procedures and guidelines in relevant subject areas
- Participate fully in the annual appraisal and continuing professional development opportunities
- To act with Kindness and respect, promoting equality at all times to include individuals by practising anti-discriminatory behaviour, privacy and confidentiality in accordance with Trust policy
- To work collaboratively with GHC and their Learning and Development Team to deliver on the ICS strategy
- To provide guidance and support the activity of the Apprenticeships and Careers Engagement Officer
- Support and liaise accordingly with Apprenticeships and Careers administrative team

Most challenging part of the role:
- Collaborative engagement with a wide range of stakeholders
- Time management and prioritisation to co-ordinate areas of responsibility and workload
- Dealing with a high level of daily activity
- Responding to short time frame demands, telephone and personal enquiries
- To co-ordinate areas of responsibility with differing timescales to meet specific deadlines
- May have to assist with capability/disciplinary process for apprentices
