Full Job Description
GE Power Conversion, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies. This APQP Quality Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of new product designs, from the concept stage through to finished products ready for manufacture,
- Assist with quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g. internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty)
- Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.
- Carry out product and process auditing.
- Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained through the lifecycle of the project.
- Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management system (ISO9001/AQAP2110)
- Assist with training of quality awareness.
- Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system
- Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Sig-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), and Measurement System Analysis
- Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements.
- Participate in the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEA's (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Lead quality audits through the Supply chain
- Quality control of work by appropriate reviews (gate reviews at each phase of APQP)
- Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to customer base.
- Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented.
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
Knowledge of quality systems and measurement tools and techniques. - Knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Part approval processes (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge, VSM, Gauge R&R
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understand engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical) and manufacturing processes. .
- Knowledge of NATO standards AQAP2105/ 2110 etc.
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as: MS Word, MS Excel, Microsoft Power point and Microsoft Outlook.
- Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport ("UK Eyes only") and possession of or ability to obtain SC level clearance.
