Full Job Description
The Archive Assistant will be part of the UK Archives team, which operates a cross-regional service across Cambridge and Macclesfield. They will work closely with the Cambridge Archivist as well as virtually with the Macclesfield team in order to provide administrative assistance and support on various projects.,
- Triaging incoming requests to the UK Archives and answering simple enquiries
- Interrogating box content for remote customers and scanning archival material as required
- Inputting new submission information to our records management application and communicating to customers the process and status of their material
- Recalling records for customers and supervising review as necessary
- Working on various remediation projects requiring data entry, archival handling and repackaging to archival standards
- Monitor and report on metrics to ensure tracking and efficiency
- Maintaining a physical presence in the DISC, Cambridge
Prior administrative experience - Ability to follow processes
- An interest in understanding archival and records management principles and applications
- An ability to work in a matrix organisation with internal and external partners
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Good attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Good computer literacy/skills, able to work with new programmes quickly and easily
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to lift and move around archival material (boxes up to 12KG) Desirables:
- Experience of working within a scientific or regulated archive/environment
- An ability to deal positively with change and adapt to new situations
- Experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working largely on their own
