Full Job Description

(Part-time, all year round, Fixed length contract)

This leading HMC co-educational school seeks to appoint an Archives Intern to join the enthusiastic and professional support team one day a week.

The aim of the Archives Intern is to support the work of sorting and cataloguing Alleyn's School Archive. The purpose of the work is to help to sort, index and describe archive documents into Axiell Collections CMS so that items can be made more accessible to the Archive's users.

The post will suit applicants with a proven interest in pursuing an archives, museum or general heritage career. The successful candidate is likely to have completed an undergraduate degree as well as a period of voluntary work in a formal archive service. It is anticipated that the role holder will apply for a recognised postgraduate archive or heritage MA degree during this internship and that this work will contribute to the pre-course work experience.

The post is part-time working one day a week (Tuesday), all year round. Please note this is a temporary position starting from October 2024 and runs until the last week of July 2025.

The salary for this role will be between £4,473 and £5,142 per annum (pro rata) depending on skills and experience (based on an FTE from £22,369 to £25,713 per annum) and will be paid monthly.

Closing date: midday on Friday 20 September 2024

Interview date: Tuesday 1 October 2024
