Full Job Description

Area Fleet Maintenance Manager London and South East Area Fleet Maintenance Manager North West, North Wales and West Midlands Regular travel is required to sites across each region. This is a fantastic time to join the Royal Mail Fleet team as we progress on our journey towards net zero, targeting an all-electric delivery fleet by 2035. This is a huge undertaking with over 50,000 vehicles and trailer assets, from buying and selling vehicles, providing maintenance and accident repairs, to managing fuel and supplier contracts there are exciting roles for anyone wishing to pursue a career involving vehicle asset management. About the role Reporting to the Head of Fleet Maintenance you will:

  • Be accountable for running a of Fleet workshops (circa 30 workshops and 8 direct reports)
  • Play a critical role in delivering of our Fleet vision to make cultural behavioural change amongst our maintenance teams, ensuring they make commercial decisions on a daily basis and operate efficiently
  • Be accountable for compliance to both legal and RM safety policies and meet safety targets.
  • Be accountable for delivering maintenance services and for optimising cost performance & forecasting through the use of the resource planning tools and resourcing to workload
  • Be responsible for optimising the efficiency of Fleet Workshops to meet or exceed industry standard performance levels.
  • Provide effective coaching, engagement, and tenacious communication to support and develop the regional Fleet Workshop teams through the cultural and performance transformation required to exceed customer expectation

    To be eligiable for the role you must hold at least an IMI Level 3 quealification in light or heavy vehicle maintenance and hold a full UK dirving licence
  • You will have a proven tracke record of management of a team over multiple sites (or one large site)
  • You can demonstrate experince of change management through coaching of teams
  • It would be desireable for you to have knowledge of compliance requirements for vehicles and road transport legislation and have worked with trade unions but this is not essential
