Full Job Description

Woodrow Mercer are currently partnering with a fantastic charity focused on supporting people affected by Drugs, Alcohol and Gambling to recruit a new Area Manager to provide leadership and direction for service managers and staff and to monitor all aspects of service delivery and ensure high quality services and financial viability.

The successful candidate will ideally have sector experience although this is not essential - They must be able to ensure compliance with legal and organisation standards and policies, Develop and grow the number and range of services, Project manage new service developments.

Service management and development

  • Develop a positive culture which embraces diversity and equality within services and maintain high quality standards in all areas of service delivery.

  • Ensure the financial viability of all services, including involvement in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets with the Finance Directorate.

  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and legislative requirements.


  • Management of staff
  • Line manage service managers and other key staff as necessary.

  • Lead on recruitment of, and selection of appropriately skilled staff.

  • Ensure all staff receive supervision, clinical and line management, as required by the organisation.


  • Financial management
  • Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures

  • Develop, with the Finance Directorate, annual budgets and ensure services are delivered in the most cost effective way.

  • Ensure services operate with budgetary constraints.


  • General
  • To participate in supervision as required by the organisation.

  • Undertake training as required by the organisation.

  • Take responsibility for personal development and participate in PPR process.
