Full Job Description

We are looking for a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Area Manager to work Nights at our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Purfleet;

Essex. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the performance of a designated department within the warehouse of the CFC in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring all targets are met without loss in performance to the business and within the site management structure.

As an Area Manager you will lead the daily running of site operations with responsibilities relating to all aspects of site safety and quality of service, delivering operational targets within the agreed budget and time frame.

You will report to the Operations Manager and may be required to deputise in their absence, as well as handling all aspects of employee management such as probation periods, absence management and performance management.

This role is for 48 hours per week, on an any 4 days from 7 rotation between 18 : 00 - 06 : 00.

Please note the Area Manager role within Ocado involves managing the warehouse operatives and the day to day running of a single department within the warehouse and not multiple sites across a region.

About you

You will also ensure KPIs are a vital focus across your site, including labour turnover, absence rates and engagement scores.

Experience in conducting formal meetings, understanding and applying the relevant policies appropriately is desired. Strong verbal and written communication and numeracy skills are a must and a passion for dealing with people and a focus to achieve employee satisfaction.

Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance are preferred and previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment are essential.
