Full Job Description

You will oversee approximately 80 operational staff, delivering and maintaining productivity for the Local Kitchen, Transport & Road Safety (LTRS) service. Effective communication is pivotal to maintain positive relationships with staff who work in 4 different roles: School Meals, Home to School Passenger Assistants, Adult Social Care Transport and School Crossing Patrol.

Your role will include staff engagement, recruitment support, inductions, training, health & safety, sickness/discipline/performance investigations, and various other tasks as directed by your Area Manager. Organisational and time management are key skills to ensure all outputs are meet, however, a level of flexibility is required to respond to emergencies or time critical tasking., LTRS deliver a varied portfolio of service outputs primarily based around children and vulnerable adults. The Business Support team manage day to day staffing allocation and are the first port of call for logging absenteeism. Local Kitchen provides school dinners to over 60 primary, secondary and special schools. The Integrated Transport Unit move over 1000 children per day using private contractors and Passenger Assistants (PA). They also oversee adult social care transport referrals and route planning, ensuring service users are safely transported to day support centres and community interest companies. Finally, LTRS manage the boroughs School Crossing Patrol service.

You must lead by example and develop your team so they can reach and maintain their full potential. You should be self-motivated, able to operate under pressure and solve complex problems. Forward planning and strategic thinking are necessary skills to efficiently complete your responsibilities. Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence are critical to maintain positive relationships with your staff. Conflict management and decision making attributes are essential when investigating different scenarios. A flexible approach is required to support staff, colleagues and senior managers. Continuous professional development is encouraged, building on your experience and increasing your confidence.
