Full Job Description
Our Shared Services team deliver specialist processes that have a direct impact on the performance of Network Rail, our customers and suppliers. These services include payroll, recruitment and onboarding, payables, receivables, financial accounting, reporting, controls and compliance and helpdesk support
What will you be doing?
The Payments Team make payments to suppliers, employees and local authorities as well as our neighbours who live alongside the railway (for example landowners) or passengers who use our managed stations.

As an Area Support Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring payments are made in line with statutory, regulatory, contractual and policy requirements. Youll be responsible for driving shared service activities, enhancing, identifying and eliminating defects in processes, control adherence and maintaining functional best practices while working in an efficient, customer focused environment, helping us deliver excellence and contribute to the future of Network Rail!

The position demands a strong ability to juggle responsibilities and deliver consistently under pressure.
., Supporting the various payment activities of the team in a target driven environment in order to meet defined KPIs and SLAs
Acting as the teams subject matter expert in relation to payment escalations or finding solutions to process non-standard or complex payment requests and queries
Supervising and authorising the work of the team by checking transactions which have been processed in multiple payment systems
Ensuring Network Rail policies and procedures are being followed to mitigate fraud and maintain good financial control
Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure compliance to HMRC / tax regulations and helping to share knowledge and understanding
Acting as a second line support contact for query management, aiding the helpdesks in answering more complex queries
Building knowledge and understanding within the team of the processes undertaken and ensuring each one is documented then kept updated in line with current practice
Challenging current processes to help reduce waste and supporting root cause analysis to help reduce errors to drive continuous improvement

Exceptional customer focus/engagement/stakeholder management skills
Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills at senior management level.
Experience managing, leading and motivating large multi-disciplined teams
Proven analytical skills
Experience of delivering continuous improvement programmes
Demonstrable experience in leading service, process and system improvements.
Experience working at a similar level within a multi-faceted organisation
Excellent communication skills
Ideally but essential you will have:
Full or Part membership of the relevant professional body
Occupational knowledge of subject areas particularly the Construction Industry Tax scheme
Educated to degree level or equivalent
ORACLE eBusiness Suite or Horizon experience
