Full Job Description

The Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.
The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Security (DSPS) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield. The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down – a newly built, modern campus in Hampshire.
This role sits within Defence School of Logistics and Administration, providing dangerous goods training for the receipt, storage and distribution of dangerous goods by Surface and Air means. We are seeking a Dangerous Goods Instructor to sit within our established delivery team offering specific Dangerous Goods training to service personnel operating within an Air environment.
The positions is advertised at 37 hours per week. Attendance to the stated site will be required in accordance with the course schedule. Flexibility at other times may be possible and can be agreed once in post, Specific tasks that our Logistics Instructors will deliver:
+ Deliver Dangerous Goods (DG) training to students.
+ Co-ordinate and maintain the provision of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)Part 1 qualified instructors.
+ Set and maintain the discipline standards.
+ Direct the standards of course preparation and management of classrooms, lessons, training aids and all other material necessary for the delivery of courses.
+ Control the preparation, setting and marking of progress tests and final examinations, through the Examinations Manager.
+ Carry out periodic assurance checks on all delivery documentation to ensure compliance and relevance, working closely with other departments where appropriate.
+ Develop course content based on student feedback
+ Generate a robust annual training programme.

Sifting is planned to be completed WC 30th September 24 with Interviews scheduled from 9th Oct 24.
Candidates who are invited to interview be be assessed against the required CS behaviours and will be required to deliver a 10 minute presentation on a subject of the candidates choice.

The Dangerous Goods instructor role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a small team, delivering dynamic dangerous goods training to military personnel.
You will collaborate with 3 other team members to deliver an exciting training programme to a Tri-Service audience.
We are seeking applicants who are forward thinking, have initiative and are able to work proactively to achieve their outcomes. Due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP) and grades of Civil Servants (CS), applicants will need to be effective communicators and confident when delivering complex lesson content.
We can offer the successful applicant a fantastic opportunity to undertake a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Accredited Dangerous Goods Shippers qualification.
We can offer the successful candidates training in Defence Instructional Techniques and other relevant applications, along with developmental courses. Once trained the selected candidate will deliver a bespoke training package which is produced and maintained by the department, complete formal and informal assessments, promote positive behaviour and provide a friendly and supportive learning environment
It is advantageous, though not essential, if applicants.
+ Have good knowledge of Office 365 software.
+ Have experience in a teaching or instructing role.
+ Hold Dangerous Goods Shipper Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) & International Air Transport Association (IATA) (CAA certified)
+ Have experience in identifying and consigning dangerous goods via land and sea.
+ Have Experience in the receipt, storage and distribution of explosive materials and associated paperwork.
