Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety Policy and legislation in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Defence Policies on Management of Health and Safety.

The Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor will assist the senior management in ensuring the organisation is a safe environment for all in which to work and reside. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Implement Health and Safety policy across the site, and maintain Safety, Health and Environmental policy, and training policy, as recommended by the Headquarters.
Maintain policy and procedures in order to meet the requirements and objectives set by the Army's Safety & Environmental Management System.
Be the Radiation Safety Officer in accordance with Management of Radiation Protection in Defence.
Ensure the establishments Safety, Health and Environmental Manual is updated to match legislation and that policy is complied with by all personnel and visitors.
Conduct all Safety, Health and Environmental internal audits and ensure all work requirements reported from inspections are actioned.
Ensure bi-annual Safety, Health and Environmental meetings take place with relevant stakeholders.
Ensure that all Occurrences (accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences) are reported and investigated.
Carry out surveillance of occupational health, including work related stress, noise assessments and monitor areas where excessive noise may affect the health, safety and welfare of personnel.
Deliver Safety Health and Environmental training programmes and be responsible for the delivery of induction, continuation, job-specific and refresher training for all staff at every level as appropriate.
